the chinese hummer Dongfeng EQ2050 "crazy soldier" and the "Hanma"

if you can't afford a really top class hummer for your personal service transport, maybe you would like to take a look at a similar but more affordable alternative, the crazy soldier.

the model is known as the dongfeng eq2050 hmmwv affectionately known in china as the "crazy soldier", is China's answer to the Hummer. And by "answer" I mean, of course, direct copy. True to its military roots the truck is referred to as the "crazy solider," which we've been told is meant to be "crazy fearless" not "crazy insane."
everything about the crazy soldier is a direct copy, from its outside appearance in general, the power train, the chassis and the wheels and the interior, dongfeng did a few cosmetic alterations on the front hood in order to distinguish it from its american relative, mainly the front hood and the grille design which has an altered headlight and turn lights,

Impressed by the excellent performance and versatility of the U.S. Army M998 series 4X4 high mobility multipurpose wheeled vehicle (HMMWV), the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) has been seeking to acquire a similar vehicle for use by ground troops and special operations force (SOF). Meanwhile two companies are competing to provide their high-mobility vehicles based on the HMMWV design.

During the 1988 Beijing Defence Exhibition, AM General demonstrated an example of its M998 4x4 high-mobility multirole wheeled vehicle (HMMWV) to the PLA. The vehicle was reportedly left in China after the exhibition closed for further test and evaluation. Since the early 1990s the Chinese petroleum industry and police departments have purchased a small number of civilian HMMWVs through commercial sources. Some of these vehicles are believed to have been used for reverse engineering purpose.

The DFM EQ2050 was introduced in 2002. The initial batch production of the DFM EQ2050 reportedly began in late-2003, implying that the vehicle might have been chosen by the PLA. DFM has already set up a new company specialising the manufacture and marketing of 4x4 cross-country vehicles. The EQ2050 will be marketed for both military (under the name of Dongfeng Armour) and civilian (under the name of Dongfeng Hanma) purpose.

The annual production of the vehicle is expected to increase to 1,000 to 2,000 vehicles in the next few years.

the crazy soldier is literally all means and ways similar to the HMMWV in appearance and performance. The DongFeng EQ2050 utilises some imported components to improved the vehicle’s performance, but this has also increased the vehicle’s unit price.

The DongFeng EQ2050 features a re-designed lights and radiator, and is powered by a Cummins 4B TA A 103 kW turbo-charged diesel, with a 5-speed gear box and a 2-speed transfer box.

the crazy soldier is four-wheel drive with independent suspensions and armour protections. it can be fitted with air conditioning, GPS, night vision equipment, vehicle-mounted radio communications, and various weapons such as heavy machine gun, grenade launcher and anti-tank missile launcher. The vehicle also have a range of configurations including troop/cargo carrier, armoured carrier, and shelter carrier.

Today, almost all of the strategic military divisions of the people's liberation army is already starting to use the dongfeng crazy soldier this includes the rapid deployment divisions, the chinese marines, the PLA engineering units and the PLA 2nd artillery corps.

Dongeng Hanma

The hanma is the civilian version and is the real Hummer H1 Alpha Chinese clone,The Hanma is aimed at Chinese telecoms companies, forestry commissions etc (remember, only the east of China is developed, the other half of the country is mother natures lot) and to interested companies and individuals.

The difference between the Hanma and the Crazy soldier is practically nothing, the civilian one gets a regular radio and CD player, some optional executive and sports trimming, a sporty dashboard and srs airbags,

Shown here is an interior of a Dongfeng Hanma available with a sports package and have quite literally all the basic luxury you may see in a Hummer H1 Alpha,  it is powered by a cloned  V8 GM Duramax diesel and power is transfered via a cloned Allison transmission.

if it seems I can't get enough, i've plexed all over the internet to get its base price but a regular brand new dongfeng hanma will cost you around P700,000 while more upgraded models may cost as much as 1 million pesos..
